This\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/events\/populationday\/\"><span class=\"s1\">World Population Day<\/span><\/a>, humans number in the vicinity of\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/popclock\/world\"><span class=\"s1\">7.5<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.worldometers.info\/world-population\/\"><span class=\"s1\">7.6 billion<\/span><\/a>\u00a0individuals.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">[7.7 billions as of 2019]<br \/>\n<\/span>\u5730\u7403\u4e0a\u3067\u3082\u3063\u3068\u3082\u6570\u304c\u81a8\u308c\u4e0a\u304c\u3063\u305f\u54fa\u4e73\u985e\u3067\u3042\u308b\u4eba\u985e\u306f\u3053\u306e\u8a18\u4e8b\u306e\u66f8\u304b\u308c\u305f2018\u5e74\u306e\u6642\u70b9\u3067\u4eba\u53e3\u304c75\u5104\u3068\u308276\u5104\u3068\u3082\u8a00\u308f\u308c\u3001\u4eca\u5e74\uff082019\u5e74\uff09\u306e<b>\u300c\u4e16\u754c\u4eba\u53e3\u30c7\u30fc\uff08World Population Day\uff09\u300d<\/b>\u3067\u306f77\u5104\u306b\u3082\u4e0a\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3002<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Can the Earth support this many people indefinitely? What will happen if we do nothing to manage future\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/population+growth\/\"><span class=\"s1\">population growth<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and total resource use? These complex questions are ecological, political, ethical \u2013 and urgent. Simple mathematics shows why, shedding light on our species&#8217; ecological footprint.<br \/>\n<\/span>\u3053\u306e\u30da\u30fc\u30b9\u3067\u4eba\u53e3\u304c\u5897\u3048\u3066\u3044\u3063\u305f\u3089\u3001\u5730\u7403\u306f\u672a\u6765\u6c38\u52ab\u306b\u53d7\u5bb9\u3057\u5207\u308c\u308b\u306e\u3060\u308d\u3046\u304b\uff1f\u4eba\u53e3\u5897\u52a0\u3068\u8cc7\u6e90\u306e\u7dcf\u4f7f\u7528\u91cf\u3092\u30b3\u30f3\u30c8\u30ed\u30fc\u30eb\u3057\u306a\u304b\u3063\u305f\u3089\u3069\u3046\u306a\u3063\u3066\u3057\u307e\u3046\u306e\u304b\u3002\u3053\u308c\u306f\u751f\u614b\u5b66\u7684\u554f\u984c\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u653f\u6cbb\u306e\u554f\u984c\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u502b\u7406\u306e\u554f\u984c\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u89e3\u6c7a\u304c\u6025\u304c\u308c\u308b\u554f\u984c\u3067\u3042\u308b\u3002\u7c21\u5358\u3067\u306f\u306a\u3044\u3002\u30b7\u30f3\u30d7\u30eb\u306b\u6570\u5b66\u3067\u4eba\u985e\u306e\u751f\u614b\u5b66\u7684\u306a\u5f71\u97ff\u5ea6\uff08footprint\uff09\u306b\u5149\u3092\u5f53\u3066\u3066\u307f\u308b\u3002<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The mathematics of population growth: In an environment with unlimited natural resources,\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/population\/\"><span class=\"s1\">population<\/span><\/a>\u00a0size\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/scitable\/knowledge\/library\/how-populations-grow-the-exponential-and-logistic-13240157\"><span class=\"s1\">grows exponentially<\/span><\/a>. One characteristic feature of\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/exponential+growth\/\"><span class=\"s1\">exponential growth<\/span><\/a>\u00a0is the time a population takes to double in size. Exponential growth tends to start slowly, sneaking up before ballooning in just a few doublings.<br
